For the first time in its 72-year history, FAMU has selected a woman to lead its marching band.

Cori Bostic, a junior broadcast journalism major from DeKalb County, Georgia, was chosen as one of The Marching 100’s drum majors, becoming the first woman to earn the title. After not being chosen the previous year, Bostic returned this year determined to make history.

Bostic previously played in the band’s piccolo section and lead her high school’s marching band as drum major.
