KPMG LLP, a professional services law firm, announced the appointment of Tonya T. Robinson as General Counsel Monday, October 2, according to a report from PRNewswire. She succeeds Joseph I. Loonan, who worked as General Counsel for 12 years and with KPMG for over 30.
Robinson will head the Office of General Counsel, which includes attorneys, auditors, and other advisory personnel. She will also oversee the coordination of the firm’s legal affairs.

Robinson previously served as the Acting General Counsel and Principal Deputy General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She has also served as a partner at WilmerHale, a law firm in Washington D.C., and as Special Assistant to the President for Justice and Regulatory Policy.
She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Duke University and her Juris Doctor Degree from Harvard Law.
